The Scope Ring Lapping Tool comes with a steel bar to fit rings, a handle, and 1/4 oz. of lapping compound. The tool is used to remove metal from the scope rings. This will cause tube deflection if not taken care of. The lapping procedure puts the bearing surface of each ring in alignment with the other.
